Non-Violent Direct Action Training
Friends House, 173 Euston Road London
The DSEI arms fair takes place at the ExCeL Centre in East London. On this page you can find out practical information about getting to the site, what to take on an action and legal advice.
By underground / DLR: The ExCeL Centre is on the Dockland Light Railway (known as the DLR), which connects to the London underground (and you can use your oyster card, just as with all other transport systems in London).
You will probably want to join the DLR either at Bank station (which connects with Central and Northern line) or at Stratford station, which connects with Central and with London overground).
(handy hint: if you get on the DLR at Stratford, there are lots of different platforms: you need platform 17).
An alternative way to go is to take the Jubilee line all the way to Canning Town, and join the DLR there.
Whichever of the above routes you take, you will need to travel on the DLR line to Prince Regent station (final destination will be marked as: Beckton).
By bus: Bus numbers 241; 325 and 541 all go to the Prince Regent bus terminus on Victoria Dock Road.
If you are taking part in any protest it is a good idea to know your legal rights. Green and Black Cross is an independent grassroots project which was set up to support social and environment struggles. They have lots of useful information on their website and one of the ways they support struggles is with the presence of legal observers.
It is advisable to always have the Green and Black Cross protest support line number with you on any demonstration: 07946 541 511.
If you are planning an action, have a look at their ‘planning an action‘ pages for more information.

The Garden Community Cafe is a warm and welcoming community just 10 minutes walk from the ExCeL centre (nearest station: Prince Regent DLR). It’s a good place to go if you would like to have a cup of tea or some quiet time during the week of action.
There will be a drop-in space at the Garden Cafe from 10:00 – 12:00 each day for people wanting to find out about how to get involved in the day’s actions.
The Cafe will be kindly offering food and drink on a donation basis for people who are taking part in the week of action.
Opening times: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 15:30
The Garden Cafe will be open on Saturday 12 September from 10:00 – 16:00
